Plea for Help ~
I took a few groceries to the center to help with Christmas
yesterday and to my shock the shelves were nearly empty. I ask what
happened....... They said "We have had more families to help than
was expected this year and the donations are down. Not just money
and toys but the food donations are not coming in as they usually
do".
WHICH MEANS that the folks will not be getting as much as in years
past. Some one might be turned down for help and just might go
hungry this year.
I AM ASKING EACH ONE OF YOU TO BRING FOOD TO THE CENTER. If you can
not get out send a check or money to help. Any small gift would
help even a dollar will buy milk for the baby or a loaf of bread.
If you are coming to the dinner dance this Saturday DEC. 10 at
Harrisonville, Mo bring a couple of canned goods. We will have a
barrel there for collection.
Remember what we are taught: we need to provide for those who do not
have as much the following things. a safe place to spend the night,
a blanket to keep warm and sharing our food in the Indian way.
Please ask your friends to send a dollar to HAIC (Heart of America
Indian Center) 600 West 39th St KCMO 64111. If we were at a dance
you would shake my hand and give me a dollar to help. Remember
HAIC does not receive any reimbursement from the state for the
families they help from the Kansas side. That help can come only
from the donations they receive from us.
HAIC has never turned anyone away if they have the food to give.
Put a dollar in a Christmas card and send it today. Please help the
Indian Center provide the food that our people need to get through
this Christmas.
Help where you can~
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and yours
