Do You Know?
*The INDIGENOUS ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORK provides experienced Indigenous
organizers who work directly with Indigenous communities to develop and organize
strategy as well as implement actions and solutions to ecological and
economic justice issues.
* IEN has successfully launched a Native Energy and Climate Justice
education campaign to establish the link between treaty rights, human rights,
energy, and climate change.
* IEN works with tribal governments and community-based organizations to
raise the level of consciousness and political will of indigenous leaders.
IEN utilizes
government-to-government relationship with the United States as leverage for
creating change in energy and climate policy.
* IEN collaborates with partner organizations to promote clean,
renewable energy development in indigenous communities.
* IEN is active with Alaskan Natives on issues of environmental health,
mining, military toxics, unsustainable fossil fuel development, and the
promotion of climate justice.
* IEN expanded its mining campaign in 2005 with the North American
Indigenous Mining Summit, where communities impacted by unsustainable mining and
mineral extraction gathered for strategic planning
* Our Water is Life campaign was launched this year to affirm the
principle that water is sacred and resolved to resist the privatization and
commodification of water.
Your donation will help the INDIGENOUS ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORK
continue to work with indigenous communities affected by toxic chemical
contamination in creating better environmental and health policies.
Your donation will help build our youth leadership development work to
foster participation and involvement among our young people.
Any donation to support our work is tax deductible.
