Hello all my friends and relations!
Hope this finds all of you and your families well and in great
health..
How many of you have powwow hangovers? Congrats to High Noon and
Southern Boyz for taking Gathering of Nations!
Speaking of powwows and singers...I want to express my heartfelt
thanks to my bro, Millard Clark for his generous donation of ten
(10) tapes of "Native Music" to my project. My project is building a
NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC library at Mabel Bassett Maximum Security
Prison, for our native women. Thanks to Millard's donation, they can
now check out NA music from the Chaplin, something they never had
before. BUT! It has gone over so well, that there is now a waiting
list to check out these tapes....so I am asking you singers ( you
know who you are...and have spoken to some of you already) to please
donate to my ladies...these are the requirements:
Must be new TAPES in plastic
Must be Native American... peyote, powwow, flute, etc
Tribe doesn't matter..as there is a huge mix of tribes in MBCC. They
did request some Northern music. Do not worry about duplicating what
MC donated, as there is a waiting list now...
Millard..I got a message through Tewa, and she said that Ada, and
the other women said to tell you "many A-ho's and much love and
hugs" for thinking of them...words cannot express the happiness you
have given them.
Those of you who are able to donate, and wish to help bring Native
Music to these women can send your tapes to:
CHAPLIN JACKSON
Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility
29501 Kickapoo Road
McLoud, Oklahoma 74801
if you have any questions, feel free to call me or e-mail me...
Just enclose a short note with your name, tribe..(so the women
will know who donated) and let Chaplin Jackson know it is a donation
to the Native American women in MBCC...
The small cost of the tape and the postage to mail it, cannot
even compare to the happiness you will bring to my women in Mabel
Bassett. Like I said before, I do not care what these women did to
get where they are. I did not walk in their shoes...there is only
one person who can judge them, and it is not me...this is a personal
project for me, because of Tewa...She will be getting out in
October, but there are many who remain behind, that have touched my
heart....I try to put myself in their place..and knowing that
someone on the outside cares, means more than anyone could ever
imagine...
Keep these women, and all our other forgotten native prisoners in
your prayers....and God bless and THANK YOU for your help...from me..
Hope this finds all of you and your families well and in great
health..
