Help with packing materials for Troops over Seas.
The Barklay Robinson Phillips VFW POST 567 along with
the USPS would like the community to know that there
is a program for Military Families to send packages to
our troops overseas, The USPS has a phone number.
1-800-610-8734 you need to select option # 1 and ask
for a “Military Pack” The USPS will send you boxes,
tape, packing materials and labels at NO CHARGE to you
or the recipient. Materials take about four to ten
days to receive.
Our troops look forward to receiving your letters and
packages. That’s why it’s important to make sure your
mail gets there, to the right person, in the right
place.
The Department of Defense has issued the following
guidelines for addressing your mail to military and
civilian personnel deployed in Operation Iraqi
Freedom. You need to be sure and use the service
member’s full name. (The Department of Defense
cancelled the Any Service Member program so mail must
be addressed to someone specific),Be sure to include
the unit and APO/FPO (Air/Army Post Office or Fleet
Post Office) address with the nine-digit ZIP Code (if
one is assigned).Dont forget to include a return
address. For packages, and print on one side only,
with the recipient’s address in the lower right
portion. Before you send a letter or package to one of
our troops overseas, make sure you’re aware of certain
restrictions. Every country has customs regulations
regarding incoming mail. Although there are specific
restrictions for each five-digit Military Post Office
ZIP Code (APO/FPO), generally, the following are
prohibited in the region of Operation Iraqi Freedom:.
Obscene articles (prints, paintings, cards, films,
videotapes, etc). Any matter depicting nude or
seminude persons, pornographic or sexual items, or
nonauthorized political materials Bulk quantities of
religious materials contrary to the Islamic faith.
Items for the personal use of the addressee are
permissible. There should be no Pork or pork
by-products of any kind sent.
The USPS will send you , Three (3) each of flat rate
boxes , Two (2) of each cube boxes, address labels

customs forms with envelopes. The Ladies Auxilliary
of the VFW POST 567 encourage you to keep our troops
in your thoughts and prayers and on your mailing list
especially over the holiday seasons and they hope this
information will help you do so.
