Chumash Cultural Center to collect toys for Native Americans www.moorparkacorn.com/news/2006/1117/on_the_town/020.html<http://www.moorparkacorn.com/news/2006/1117/on_the_town/020.html> Redbird, a group that celebrates Native Americans, will hold its annual toy and school supplies drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Dec. 2 at the Oakbrook Park Chumash Interpretive Center, 3290 Lang Ranch Parkway, Thousand Oaks. Donations of new, unwrapped toys and basic school supplies will be given to Native American children and families in need of assistance. Cultural demonstrations will be featured, and visitors can explore the park and hiking trails and hear the Crooked Hat drum. Refreshments will be available. Admission is free. Donations of toys, school supplies or money are welcome. Redbird is a nonprofit educational and charitable association based in Simi Valley that promotes Native American cultural awareness and preservation and provides direct assistance to families in need. This is a family event and all everyone is welcome. In accordance with park rules, dogs are not allowed.
