The goals of "Protect Sacred Sites as Indigenous People, One Nation" Organization includes the following:
· Create awareness regarding all sacred sites across the county
· Educate the public about the continual desecration of sacred sites, NAGPRA laws and guidelines within each state
· Network and unite with other organizations, groups and people for outreach programs, events, seminars, conferences. Present presentations when appropriate.
· Work with Tribal councils, Tribal organizations, Cultural Preservation Officers and Attorney's with their needs in regards to any sacred site issues.
· Network with Tribes and Conservation Organizations in order to purchase or acquire private lands in which sacred sites are present and have been verified. Many sites are on private lands, these landowners may be willing to negotiate in selling or donating parcels or sections of land to the local Tribe or a conservation organization.
· Organize, attend and/or host peaceful protest gatherings at sacred sites across the country. Our organization will only endorse PEACEFUL gatherings and will never endorse violence, destruction or violation of private property.
· Contact local Government Offices by writing, calling and/or emailing and encouraging others to join in this effort.
· Contact media regarding issues when appropriate
· To be in constant contact with representatives of NAGPRA about ongoing issues and action alerts
· Compile a resource listing of ALL sacred sites across the country, highlighting the sites that have either potential or current desecration issues. Our website will be a resource and networking tool for all organizations and people to collect data regarding sacred sites.
· Each committee representative should have a network within their communities to assist with issues on an as needed basis. These should be people you can count on when an issue arises or an action alert in the area is needed.
· The committee's goal is to have at least one representative in each state, nationwide.
