I'm from Alaska, right now, I am pursueing a dream I had when I was
little, and now it's coming true!!
I recently just got married the day after my birthday(16th of
October), to my wonderful half Don in Tsalagi Tradition(We are both
Tsalagi). Who also shared the same dream as me. We are definately
alike in many ways. We have been Donating Our Services To
Reservations in Need. We are the "SunDog Warrior's Helping Hands". We
have a portable sawmill, that my mother bought for us in 2006, she
said now you both can fulfill your dreams, and help those on the
reservations, and we are doing so.
We are the first Non-Tribal Members, to be issued a permit for
logging on the Rosebud Reservation, in many, many, many decades.
We started Our dream, from traveling, all the way down, from Alaska
to the Rosebud & PineRidge Reservations, one of the 2 poorest areas
in the nation. We started our work in June '07 to Present(We stayed
in a tent from June till November, until it got colder). Our dear
friend Pokey & Smoky and their family were very kind to help us while
we stayed in Rosebud and they continue to help us to this day. Pokey
runs NIHO(Native Indian Heritage Organization) the Donations that
come to her, are put into her Free Store and given out for Free to
those in need. A very, very sweet Lakota Woman.
We are Looking forward to 2008!
With our sawmill, we have made 35 Wheelchair ramps, Firewood- 50
cords, we have cut 20,000 square board feet, we have provided Free
Food & Clothing, to those who have desperately needed, All For Free.
Our only income has been what my husband and I have made for crafts
and sold, to be used in helping people. We have recieved other
donations used for sawmill blades, fuel- for both our truck &
sawmill, and clothing donations too.
A Very Special Thankyou, for those who continue to Donate in our
cause.
Don & I are down in GA, at the moment, collecting donations to bring
back up with us to Rosebud and distrubute among families both in
Rosebud & PineRidge Reservations. We will be heading back after the
first of the year.
Christmas wishes tried and true
I'm sending now, just for you...
a little love, a little cheer,
and wishes for a great New Year!
Hope Santa brings you gifts galore
with more surprises still in store.
May all your Christmas Dreams come true
and may Creator's Blessings be yours too!
Every Day Is Christmas
Every day is Christmas
When you have the kind of mind,
That stores up all the goodness
And the sweetness it can find.
When you don't need an occassion,
To spread a bit of cheer,
But just keep on a-giving,
Of yourself throughout the year.
Every day is Christmas,
With a gaily wrapped surprise,
When you've learned
To see the friendship,
In someone else's eyes.
When you try a little harder,
And complain a little less,
Holding fast to all the fervor
Of the faith that you possess.
Every day is Christmas,
When you've found that you can be
More concerned with words like 'you'
And less with 'I' and 'me'.
When it's fun to do a favor,
And to lend a helping a hand,
When being understood means less,
Than when you understand.
Every day is Christmas,
With a beauty deeply cast,
When you find it doesn't matter,
If you're first or if you're last.
When you can face your conscience,
And be glad of what you are,
Then every day is Christmas,
With a stable and a star.
Everyday is Christmas,
Here on the Rez,
Where children have no toys,
A few clothes and just maybe,
some food.
To see the lights in the children's eyes,
Bright and shiny galore,
when you bring their family,
firewood, food, clothes,
and most important
the Toys.
For Everyday is Christmas,
Here on the Rosebud &
Pine Ridge Reservations.
We have been working on the Rosebud & PineRidge Reservations,
providing Free services to those in need. From Wheelchair Ramps, to
Firewood, Food, Clothing and the neccesities that normal people have,
but those on the Rez don't have. We continuely excepting donations
for Infants all the ways up to Teens to Adults.
