American Indian Education Measure A bill will be filed in the South Dakota Legislature that is intended to help improve the education of American Indian students in the state.
The measure will come from the administration of Governor Rounds, who says teachers need training in Indian culture.
The governor says schools should offer instruction on Native American culture, language and tradition.
Rounds hopes his proposal will help improve the high school graduation rate of South Dakota's Indian students, which is much lower than that of white students.
