Four arrested, four probed in Coeur d'Alene cemetery Vandalism - The Associated Press Edition Date: 07/24/07 Nearly every ornament, flower, wind chime, religious symbol, U.S. flag and flower stand at a cemetery was broken or knocked over, four people have been arrested and four are under investigation, police said.Purple heart plaques from veterans' graves at Riverside Cemetery also were broken, and officers found a memorial area littered with broken beer bottles about 4 a.m. Sunday, according to a police statement. Dustin Lane McCauley, 20, has been jailed on a charge of misdemeanor desecration of a cemetery and on an outstanding warrant, one juvenile has been booked into detention and two others were arrested and released to their parents, Sgt. Christie Wood wrote. Four other juveniles remained under investigation and also could face charges, she added. Witnesses reported about half a dozen juveniles running through the cemetery about 4 a.m., kicking headstones and throwing beer bottles, and officers went to an apartment after seeing a juvenile run inside, according to the police statement. In the apartment, police found three people who were arrested and three statues that appeared to have been taken from the cemetery, Wood wrote. Two other people were found hiding outside the apartment and other juveniles were located nearby. No damage estimate was immediately available.
