Judge hands down two life sentences in reservation meth case CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced two people involved with selling methamphetamine on the Wind River Indian Reservation to life in prison.
Judge William F. Downes last month sentenced Claudia Hermosillo and Santiago Gonzalez-Cisneros, both 26 and both of Riverton.
The US Attorney's office in Cheyenne says Hermosillo and Gonzalez-Cisneros were leaders of a drug organization that sold methamphetamine and marijuana from Mexico on the reservation and around Riverton.
The two were arrested in May 2006 after they arranged delivery of 16 pounds of methamphetamine to an undercover federal agent.
Matt Mead is US Attorney for Wyoming. He says the sentences send a strong message that drug trafficking on Native American lands or anywhere else in the state will not go undetected. Mead says that he hopes the sentences will deter others from poisoning people in the state with drugs.
