Dear Tribe Members,
One of the last, unique and still pristine sacred site in Northern
California may be soon bulldozed by greedy developers.
Sierra Hot Springs ( former Campbell Hot Springs ) in Sierraville is
pending for sale to one of major developers of Sierra Foothills.
This site, because of it’s natural thermal features was considered as
sacred by Native Americans for centuries – and till now it’s been a
magical place.
In recent years Springs have been owned by Harbin Hot Springs and it’s
founder Ishvava.
The place stayed charmingly rustic, quiet, spiritual with minimal impact
on nature – open to members and public 24 hours a day, all year round.
Unfortunately, Harbin Hot Springs and its chairman decided to sell this
priceless land.
It’s not an open, public sale.
All contract details are not known, but as of now, there is a pending
sale to NC Brown Development Inc.
Proposed bright future for Springs and surrounding forest - 5-star
resort with a golf course, if times are tough- subdividing property and
building gated community !!!.
Please, help us preserve this land and your heritage. Without your
help, it may be gone forever. We have to act quickly – sale is closing
by June 10, 2006.
Write a discouraging letter to the developer- enough of destruction,
they shouldn’t be allowed to build golf courses in place of someone
else’s church!
Please write a letter or e-mail to Ishvava (current owner ) asking to
reconsider the sale, or at least choosing a buyer which would live in
peace with nature and with respect to this sacred site.
Sierra Hot Springs is still open – please visit it – you may fall in
love with it just like we did 4 years ago.
Sincerely,
Jolanta and Leszek Gadula
