Film screening: `Two Rivers Powwow`, and discussion on reconciliation
among Native American and U.S. settler descended peoples

Description: "Some ten years ago, almost by accident, a handful of
whites and Native Americans in the Northwest [U.S.A.] began meeting
together to find out why relationships between Natives and non-Native
[Americans] are virtually non-existent outside of courtrooms.
`Two Rivers` documents their discoveries, as they grappled with the
radical differences between the two cultures, and faced the pain and
anger Indians feel because of racism, hypocritical and greedy American
policies, and the serious harm Indian schools have inflicted on Native
families and culture.
The results of this group's work together are astonishing and
touching people on both sides. It's changing lives, impacting
communities and affecting race relations in the Northwest, perhaps even
across America".
After the screening, Dr Polly Walker will discuss her insights on this
project, and other related aspects of her recent fieldwork in the U.S.A.
regarding conflict transformation and ceremonies. URL:
