Native American Amusement Park Planned For Eastern North Carolina
The park would be located near the planned 750-acre Carolina Crossroads Music and Entertainment District.
Hollister, NC -- The Haliwa-Saponi tribe plans to build an American Indian-themed amusement park near Interstate 95 just south of Roanoke Rapids.
The park will also help educate visitors about the history and culture of American Indians.
The tribe plans to develop the proposed 118-acre site in two phases, with the first one costing about 30 million dollars.
The tribe hopes to get a million dollars from the state to help pay design, marketing and promotion costs. They've already secured 350-thousand dollars toward the project.
The park would be located near the planned 750-acre Carolina Crossroads Music and Entertainment District. Randy Parton, the brother of singer Dolly Parton, broke ground last month on a theater that would be the cornerstone of the district.
