Mills, an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, is scheduled to attend a reception April 22 at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., and receive a humanitarian award from the organization, officials said. The April event also marks the 20th anniversary of the charity, headquartered in Arlington, Va. Mills' organization, Running Strong for American Indian Youth, provided matching grants of $4,000 to $5,000 for emergency heating assistance to each of the nine districts on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation this winter, according to the group's Web site.
