********************** Thieves took $5,000 from Batchewana break-and-enter
Batchewana First Nation, Ont. - The Batchewana First Nation Police are continuing their investigation into the break-and-enter at a native craft store on Frontenac Street.
Sometime during Tuesday night and Wednesday morning thieves forced their way into the store stealing native arts and crafts and ransacking the business.
An inventory conducted by the owners of the store revealed that close to $5000 in merchandise has been stolen from the business.
The list of stolen property includes clothing, feather cases, gloves and mitts, belts and belt buckles.
One of the more distinguished items stolen was a traditional ceremonial drum commonly used at pow wows.
The patterns of the clothing are unique to this area.
Some of the stolen items have the "Trails End" symbol on the items.
