Census: Oklahoma's Native population growing

New figures available from the US Census Bureau reveals there are almost
2.4 million people in the nation that identify as American Indian and
Alaska Native.
Oklahoma has the fourth highest Native population percentage, topped
only by South Dakota, New Mexico and Alaska.
The survey shows there are 253,783 people in Oklahoma identified as
American Indian and Alaska Native, totaling 7.4-percent of the
population.
Arizona now has the most Natives living in the state, followed by
Oklahoma. California, long known as the state with the most Natives, has
dropped to number three on that list.
As for tribal affiliation, 3000 thousand people say they are Cherokee,
making it the most populous tribe in the country followed by Navajo,
Sioux and Ojibwa.
