Sarah Hindsley, originally from Cumberland, has been
announced as a nominee for the 2006 Native American
Music Awards. Hindsley's debut single, River of Life,
is up for Best R&B/Hip Hop Recording.
Hindsley, who has performed throughout northwest
Wisconsin and Minnesota over the years, is actively
pursuing a recording career. Hindsley is most
recognized for performing at area musical festivals,
casinos and Native American gatherings. Hindsley's
talent also provided her the opportunity to perform
the National Anthem at Minnesota Twins baseball game.
Raised on the Maple Plain Reservation, Hindsley
proudly represents the St. Croix Chippewa and Ho Chunk
Tribes of Wisconsin. Hindsley uses her voice to spread
hope among Native American people. Her unique ability
to infuse R&B, hip hop, gospel, jazz and Native
American singing draws fans of all kind.
The Native American Music Awards, nicknamed "Nammys,"
is similar to other events such as the Grammys and
Jammys. The Nammys honor the musical talents of Native
American recording artists. An estimated 100 millions
fans are expected to cast their vote in 25 different
categories at
www.nammys.com. Winners will be
announced at the award ceremony at the Seminole Hard
Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
