Singer/Songwriter W.T Goodspirit (aka Wayne Jackson) hails from the Goodfish Lake First Nation in Alberta. Goodspirit grew up listening to different genres of music all of his life, and some of his musical influences include the likes of Elvis Presley, The Beatles, CCR, Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Van Shelton and list could go on and on. To categorize him in one category would be difficult, and although he loves rock music, his general vocal style is that of a more country baritone persuasion.
In 2004, after a lengthy hiatus from performing publicly, Goodspirit took his musical talents out across northeastern Alberta, competing and winning in several shows in several different communities. Goodspirit's efforts paid off as he entered a competition modeled after the popular television show "American Idol," which was named "Aboriginal Icon." His vocal talents propelled him to the finals in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he won his category and landed a recording contract with Sunshine Records.
In 2006, Goodspirit released his debut album entitled, "Give Me A Sign," under the Sunshine Record label. His ten track album contains all original material and has a variety of themes including love, both lost and found in the titled CD, "Give Me A Sign" and another track "She Does As She Pleases." While other tracks have more of an Aboriginal theme such as "The Rez" and "Let's Go Home." Goodspirit also sings about a couple of his won idols, in the song, "Tribute Song."
Goodspirit reside on the Goodfish Lake First Nation in Alberta. A father of three daughters, he graduated with his Bachelor of Education Degree in 2003 from the University of Alberta.
