The American Indian Education Minor and Professional Development Program
(ITEPP), Humboldt State University, promotes Indian self-determination
by developing learning communities that validate Tribal cultural values,
facilitate academic success, and foster a sense of self-efficacy among
American Indian students, educators and other professionals.
ITEPP is offering a five-course, 15-unit Professional Development
Certificate Program leading to an American Indian Education Certificate

Spring Semester (January 17 - May 13, 2006)
AIE 340 (22281) - Educational Experiences. Local and national
American Indian tribes. Educational history, life ways, cultural
attributes, and educational problems. T 1600-1850 FH 163. Instructor:

AIE 345 (24610) - American Indians in Higher Education (On-line
course). contact Suzanne Burcell at smb7001@humboldt.edu 707-826-5195.
Begins with a comprehensive history of American Indian higher education
as critical context for in-depth examination of diverse American Indian
responses to educational opportunities offered by public, private, and
tribal colleges in the US.
AIE 430 (22476) - Proposal & Grantwritng Process (1 week
intensive* 13-MAR-06 to 17-MAR-06). contact Suzanne Burcell at
smb7001@humboldt.edu 707-826-5195. Examine funding sources and develop a
grant proposal for a non-profit or tribal organization.
AIE 435 (22282)- Counseling
Issues. (1 week intensive* 09-JAN-06 to 13-JAN-06) Contact Suzanne
Burcell for info. Dynamics and process of effective cross cultural
interactions between American Indians and non-Indians. Instructor: Susan
Cameron
* Intensives meet from 8 am to 4:50 pm Monday through Friday
