Zaasakokwaan
Yield: 4 Servings
2 1/2 c All-purpose flour (sifted) 1 tb Melted shortening or oil 1 Whole large egg 1 1/4 c Skim milk or water 1 1/2 ts Baking powder
Blend all ingredients. If needed and dough is sticky, gradually add more flour until no longer sticky.
Roll dough into 3" balls and flatten. Cut two slits in the middle of the bread and pull apart so oil can penetrate the middle of the bread while frying.
Fill a large frying pan half full of oil. Fry until golden brown in color on both sides of bread.
