Dried Squash In the autumn, among the Canadian Onondaga, squashes are frequently cut into narrow pieces lengthwise, then dried over the stove in flat evaporating trays or baskets. In preparing them for use, the dried strips are washed in warm water, soaked, then boiled and eaten with butter. (W)
