The Official Mile Post 398 trailer is now available for viewing and
download. The film has been in production for nearly six months and is
due to premiere in January 2007. Our goal is to premiere this film at
the 2007 Sundance Film Festival Native American Initiative.
Mile Post 398 incorporates an all Navajo cast and crew and was written
and directed by Navajo film makers Shonie and Andee De La Rosa of
Kayenta, Arizona. The film was shot entirely on the Navajo Nation and
utilized every aspect of resources available on the Navajo Nation to
produce.
Many films in the past and present depicting the Navajo vary rarely
include Navajos portraying themselves, many people producing these
films such as the director, writer, etc are not even Navajo, much less
even Native. Mile Post 398 is the very first of its kind to
incorporate an all Navajo cast and crew. As the film makers, this is
something we are very proud of. Many have said that the Navajo do not
have the talent nor the resources to produce such a film, we hope this
sets the record strait for those that have doubted us as people with
out talent and resources.
Mile Post 398 takes place in present time in Kayenta, Arizona with a
thirty something Navajo guy named Cloyd. One day Cloyd decides to try
and turn his life around by trying to quit his problematic drinking.
He soon realizes that this is easier said than done.
Mile Post 398 includes a very talented cast consisting of:
Lawson "Beau" Benally Cloyd
Gerald Vandever Jimmy
James Junes Marty
Kim White Lorraine
Ernest David Tsosie III Ray
KJ White Michael
Duwayne Lake Steve
James Cee Vanwinkle Albert
Shaylynn Gilmore Gloria
Ruth Bradley Cloyds Auntie
Billy Crawley II Himself
Luanne Bradley Cloyds Sister-in law
