Navajo Nation investigates Internet company Friday, June 15, 2007
The Navajo Nation is investigating allegations of overbilling by an Internet services company. The Navajo Office of the Auditor General analyzed payments made to OnSat Network Communications, based in Utah. It found over $650,000 in questionable charges. Frank Brown, an investigator for the Navajo Department of Justice, also said the tribe is investigating whether tribal officials broke procurement laws in dealing with the company. The FBI is also interested, Brown said. OnSat Chief Executive David Stephens said he wasn't worried about the probe.
